Notes : Mrs. Lucy B. Chafin, 76, for many years a resident of the Salt Creek neighborhood west of Nashville, died rather unexpectedly, at 7:15 Monday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Smith, near Lafayette, where she had been residing. She suffered an attack of pnemonia four years ago and had not been well since, although she was able to sit up. Mrs. Chafin moved to Columbus from this county following the death of her husband, James Chafin, in 1916, and resided there until going to Mrs. Smith's home, where she was stricken. She is survived by eight other children, Mrs. Warren Moore - who formerly resided here - Mrs. Grover Cooper, Mrs. Otto Imel and Wayne Chafin, all of Columbus; Dennis Chafin, of Oregon, James Chafin, of Fowler, Raymon Chafin, of Lafayette, and Mrs. Joe Marlett, of west of Nashville. Mrs. Chafin was a good mother and respected by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by her devoted family. Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock today (!
Thursday) at the Clark church, east of Nashville, with burial in the Crouch Cemetery, just east of Gnaw Bone. (Dated Dec. 12, 1946, Brown County Democrat, daughter of Otha Roberts sand Rebecca Pittman)
